A Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scan
DEXA Scan, commonly referred to as a bone density scan, is a technique used to measure bone density which is directly related to bone strength. Doctors can predict the potential for fractures and osteoporosis through DEXA scan results, which are completely painless and exposes patients to minimal radiation.
- Screening is recommended for women >50 years of age.
- Although osteoporosis is more common in women, men can also develop the condition.
- Osteoporosis detection.
- Risk determination for broken bones
