An Ultrasound-guided cyst aspiration is a minimally invasive procedure used to remove fluid and/or cellular material from a lump or cyst in your breast.
Ultrasound, also called sonogram does not involve the use of X-ray and guides the Radiologist (a board-certified MD) in the withdrawal of the fluid or tissue.
Many lumps in the breast are harmless, fluid-filled sacs, but a small percentage of them may contain malignant (cancer) cells. This procedure will provide the information needed about the nature of the lump in your breast.
It is recommended that you discontinue the use of any Ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, Aspirin, fish oil or Vitamin E for five to seven days before your biopsy. If you are taking any prescription medications that affect your blood clotting abilities such as Plavix or Coumadin, please contact your physician to obtain permission to hold these medications for three to five days prior to your biopsy.
Wear comfortable clothing; only the top portion will need to be removed. A sports type bra is helpful to wear for the first 24 hours for your comfort. You should eat a light meal before your procedure.
Both our mobile coaches and our fixed locations provide the latest in cutting-edge, proven technology.
